The new student council for the 2nd quarter met today and decided on 3 projects they are going to take on for this term: 1) Ossian Clean Up Day, 2) Food/Winter Coat Drive, 3) Dodgeball Tourney.
The kids are looking forward to these projects.

"Hat Day"
Today at the SWMS it was "Hat Day" which was used as a fund raiser for a local youth who resides in the South Winneshiek School District.

October 15, 2010. All proceeds are going to the Kamryn Leuenberger Benefit fund, who has Cerebral Palsy & is heading to Germany for a Bone Marrow Stem Cell Transplant. Any donations are appreciated and welcomed!

September 30, 2010 Meeting
In our meeting today it was decided that the kids will be decorating the middle school lower hallway next Tuesday October 5. If parents would like to donate any type of decoration that is red,white, or gray it would be greatly appreciated.

T-Shirt Design Contest 2010
Student Council met today to discuss guidelines for our SWMS T-Shirt Design Contest 2010.

- Contest is open to any South Winn student grades 3-8
- Designs will be accepted from Monday October 11th until Friday October 22nd at 3pm
- Designs must include South Winneshiek logo or text in design to be considered
- Judges will be impartial teachers, staff & administrators
- Winner receives the choice between 3 options (yet to be determined)

Tuesday: Jersey Day (wear a favorite jersey of yours)
Wednesday: Twin Day (dress like somebody else so you look like twins)
Thursday: Superhero Day (dress like your favorite Superhero)
Friday: Red & White Day (show your school colors on gameday!!!)
Reminder that the Homecoming parade is at 3:30pm, JV plays at 5pm and the Varsity
kicks off at 7:30pm. GO WARRIORS!!!!

Wednesday September 1, 2010 Meeting
For the 1st quarter of school, there are 25 students 6th through 8th grade who make up the council. We brainstorm ideas of how we can build our school pride & community relations by helping in our communities. Here is the list of ideas that the kids have decided to take on for the 1st quarter of the school year:

- Work with the SW PTO putting on a costume dance at the high school in Calmar
- Build, paint, and install the 6 Pillars of Character in our Ossian center
- Fall clean up day in Ossian for those people who cannot physically take care of their yards
- Having a Elementary/Middle School T-Shirt design contest
